Buying a used vehicle may seem like a dicey proposition, but for the most part it is very easy to spot the right car at the right price.  When you go to purchase your used Japanese vehicle, consider making sure that the following items work or are missing.
1. Make sure the car runs, and runs well.  If you know someone who is handy with vehicles, especially Japanese vehicles, ask them to come with you during your car shopping.  They will know what to look for, what to listen to, and what to test in order to tell you whether or not the Japanese vehicle you want to buy is worth the money the seller is asking for.
2. What does the car look like?  Obviously you are not going to buy it if it is filled with rust and is dented, even if you want to use it to fix up another vehicle.  A ding here and there is not a deal breaker, but you do want the car to look nice.
3. Look at the safety record for the particular model you are buying and the safety devices that have been installed in the cars.  Newer models of Japanese vehicles are going to have better safety devices than older ones, so you need to consider that carefully when buying.
